Despite a strong 88.72-meter throw on his third attempt, Arshad’s earlier mark was unbeatable. Indiaโs Neeraj Chopra, after a rough start, managed an impressive 89.45 meters to claim silver, while Grenadaโs Anderson Peters took bronze with an 88.54-meter throw.
Arshad’s incredible performance followed his strong qualification round, where he threw 86.59 meters on his first attempt, becoming Pakistanโs last hope for a medal after six of the seven athletes were disqualified.
This victory breaks a 32-year Olympic medal drought for Pakistan, the last being a bronze by the national hockey team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Today, Pakistan stands proud with its first-ever individual gold, thanks to Arshad Nadeem!
