Shan Masood Biography


Shan born in Kuwait and raised with strong Pakistani parents, he chose to represent Pakistan at the international level and has developed into one of the country’s most dependable left-handed opening batters in Test cricket. He Known for his calm temperament, solid technique, and patience at the crease. Shan has become a key figure in Pakistan’s red-ball and yet leading in front in 2026.

Shani made his first-class debut in 2007 for Hyderabad and quickly impressed with amazing performances in domestic cricket. His breakthrough came when he earned a Test debut against South Africa in 2013. In his very first Test innings, Shan scored a composed 75 runs inning and made Pakistan’s memorable victory.

As far as other cricket formats he despite showing early promise. Shani struggled to cement his place in the national side during the initial years of his career. He returned back strongly during Pakistan’s 2015 tour of Sri Lanka, where he scored his maiden Test century at Pallekele and stitched together a massive partnership with Younis Khan. That innings highlighted his ability to handle pressure in overseas conditions.

Several years, Shan continued to improve his cricket strategies and shot selection. His career-defining performances came between 2019 and 2021, including memorable centuries against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and England. His century at Old Trafford in 2020 was brilliant as he became the first Pakistan opener since Saeed Anwar to score a Test hundred in England.
