Match Analysis

Fixture by Fixture Preview

What to expect from each Peshawar Zalmi match in PSL 11 — key matchups, conditions, and what matters most.

Match 1 · Karachi · Day Game
Sat, 28 Mar · 3:30 PM PKT
Peshawar Zalmi vs Rawalpindi Pindiz
National Bank Stadium, Karachi · PSL 11 opener
A thrilling start for Zalmi as they face debutants Rawalpindi Pindiz. Day conditions in Karachi favor pace bowlers early — Naseem Shah and Tom Curran will be key with the new ball. Rizwan and Babar Azam headline the batting battles. Winning this opener sets the tone for the rest of the campaign.
Match 2 · Karachi · Night Game
Tue, 31 Mar · 8:00 PM PKT
Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United
National Bank Stadium, Karachi
A key rivalry clash. Islamabad United, led by Shadab Khan, bring an experienced attack. Zalmi’s batting, led by Babar Azam and Haider Ali, will need to post 180+ to dominate this Karachi night game. Key battle: Kusal Mendis vs United’s spin attack. Momentum here is crucial for the group stage.
Matches 3 & 4 · Lahore · Double Header
Fri, 7 Apr · Sun, 9 Apr · 8:00 PM PKT
vs Lahore Qalandars & Karachi Kings
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore · Two nights in a row
A crucial double-header in Lahore. The Lahore Qalandars match (April 7) is the toughest, as the defending champions are formidable on home turf. The Karachi Kings clash (April 9) offers an opportunity if Zalmi’s pace attack exploits the night conditions. Squad rotation will be key across these consecutive matches.
Matches 5, 6 & 7 · Karachi · Triple Header
Tue, 12 Apr · Thu, 14 Apr · Sat, 16 Apr · 8:00 PM PKT
vs Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators & Hyderabad Kingsmen
National Bank Stadium, Karachi · Three matches in five days
Three matches in Karachi that could define Zalmi’s playoff chances. The Multan Sultans game (April 12) is high-pressure, while Quetta Gladiators (April 14) provide a tough test on a fast, pace-friendly track. Hyderabad Kingsmen (April 16) is the must-win to ensure a top-four spot. Fatigue management and key player performances will decide outcomes.
Matches 8, 9 & 10 · Lahore · Final Stretch
Tue, 19 Apr · Thu, 21 Apr · Sat, 23 Apr · 8:00 PM PKT
vs Islamabad United, Rawalpindi Pindiz & Lahore Qalandars
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore · Closing league stage
The final stretch in Lahore will almost certainly decide playoff fate. Islamabad United (April 19) is the key to momentum. Rawalpindi Pindiz (April 21) are unpredictable but must be beaten to secure points. Lahore Qalandars (April 23) close the league stage — a win could propel Zalmi straight into the top 4.
Franchise Record

Peshawar Zalmi History

One of the most consistent franchises in PSL history — Peshawar Zalmi have been in playoff contention in almost every season since the inaugural edition in 2016.

Consecutive PSL seasons

Peshawar Zalmi were founded in 2015 and bought by Javed Afridi for US$16 million — making them one of the original six PSL franchises. Built on the passionate cricket culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zalmi quickly established themselves as one of the league’s most competitive sides.

Their 2017 PSL title win under captain Darren Sammy remains the defining chapter of the franchise — Sammy famously hit 33 runs in the final two overs of the final to beat Quetta Gladiators at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. It was one of the greatest finishes in T20 cricket history.

Since then Zalmi have reached two more finals (2018, 2021) without winning, and suffered a difficult PSL 10 in 2025. The arrival of Ottis Gibson as Head Coach, supported by Misbah-ul-Haq (batting) and Azhar Mahmood (bowling), signals serious intent to restore Zalmi to title contention in PSL 11.

Historic milestone in PSL 11: For the first time, Zalmi play a home match at Imran Khan Stadium, Peshawar on March 28 — ending years of staging home games in Rawalpindi due to ground renovation.

Knockout Stage

Playoff Qualification

How Peshawar Zalmi reach the PSL 11 playoffs — and what each qualification scenario means for their path to the title.

Scenario 1 — Best Case
Finish 1st or 2nd
Qualifier · April 28 · Karachi · 7:00 PM PKT
Finishing in the top 2 of the league table sends Zalmi directly to the Qualifier on April 28 at National Bank Stadium, Karachi. The Qualifier winner goes straight to the Final on May 3 in Lahore — skipping the eliminators entirely. This is Peshawar Zalmi’s most direct route to a second PSL title.
Scenario 2 — Still Alive
Finish 3rd or 4th
Eliminator 1 · April 29 · Lahore · 7:00 PM PKT
A 3rd or 4th place finish means Zalmi face Eliminator 1 on April 29 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Win and they advance to Eliminator 2 on May 1. Lose and the season ends. If they get through, they face the Qualifier loser in Eliminator 2 — with a Final spot at stake. The harder path, but Zalmi have navigated it before.

Zalmi realistically need 5–6 wins from 10 league matches to guarantee a playoff spot. The Karachi double-header (April 7–9) and the final Lahore run (April 19–23) are the two periods that will decide their season.
