How Points Work

PSL 2026 Points System

Every match awards points based on result. Each team plays 10 league matches — maximum 20 points possible.

2
Points for a Win
0
Points for a Loss
1
Points each — No Result or abandoned match

A Tied match goes to a Super Over. The Super Over winner takes 2 points and the loser takes 0.

If two teams are level on points, Net Run Rate (NRR) is used as the tiebreaker. Higher NRR = higher position in the table.

Understanding NRR

What is Net Run Rate?

NRR separates teams level on points. Here is how it works in plain language.

Net Run Rate (NRR) is calculated by subtracting average runs conceded per over from average runs scored per over across all matches in the tournament.

Simple formula: NRR = (Total runs scored ÷ Total overs faced) minus (Total runs conceded ÷ Total overs bowled)

If a team is bowled out before their overs are used, the full quota of overs is used in the calculation — not the actual overs faced. This penalises heavy batting collapses.

Win by big margins and your NRR goes positive and higher. Lose heavily and it goes negative. Only matches with a result count — abandoned matches are excluded from NRR.
