About Rawalpindi Pindiz
The story of PSL’s most expensive and most unconventional new franchise — built from the ashes of Multan Sultans and relocated to Rawalpindi with a bold new identity.
Rawalpindi Pindiz came into existence through an extraordinary chain of events. When former Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen chose not to renew his franchise agreement after PSL 10, the PCB took control of the slot and put it up for competitive auction in November 2025. Walee Technologies, owned by Ahsan Tahir, won the bid at PKR 2.45 billion — the highest price ever paid for a PSL franchise, surpassing all previous records.
The new owners made an immediate decision: move the franchise from Multan to Rawalpindi, home of the famous Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. On February 22, 2026, the franchise unveiled the name Pindiz through a 25-second video featuring the city’s iconic landmarks. The PCB later required the official registered name to be Rawalpindiz, though the franchise itself continues to operate under the Pindiz identity in their branding and social media.
The squad assembled reflects serious ambition. Mohammad Rizwan was retained as captain and the anchor of the batting lineup. Naseem Shah (PKR 8.65 crore) and Daryl Mitchell (PKR 8.05 crore) were among the most expensive auction purchases of PSL 11, giving Pindiz an international-quality core from day one. Sam Billings and Zaman Khan round out a squad with genuine depth across all formats.
