Babar Azam Biography


Babar is Pakistan’s best batter of his generation. Born in Lahore on 15 October 1994, he bats right-handed and is known for his clean technique, elegant stroke play and ability to perform across all formats and conditions.

Babar made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 and quickly made his mark. Against West Indies, he became only the third Pakistani after Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar to score three consecutive ODI centuries. His Test debut came in 2016, and he has since posted nine Test hundreds with a career-best 196 against Australia in 2022.

In T20Is, Babar broke Virat Kohli’s record for the fastest 1000 runs in the format and became world number one in all three formats at the same time. He captained Pakistan to the 2022 T20 World Cup final and led the side across all formats before stepping down. He remains one of Pakistan’s most important batters in 2026.
