Iram Javed

Iram Javed is Pakistan’s most experienced active women’s cricketer. Born on 16 December 1991 in Lahore, she is a right-handed middle-order batter who also bowls right-arm medium-fast and has been a fixture in Pakistan women’s cricket since 2013. With over 720,000 followers on Facebook and a career that stretches across three different decades of international cricket, she is one of the most recognised faces in Pakistan women’s cricket. Her journey is not just about longevity. It is about showing up consistently, performing in clutch moments and earning the trust of selectors across multiple coaching regimes and team rebuilds.

She made both her ODI and T20I debuts against Ireland in July 2013, entering a Pakistan women’s setup that was still finding its feet on the global stage. From the start she offered something selectors valued beyond pure statistics. Her composure in the middle order, her fielding at point and her ability to chip in with the ball when conditions suited gave her a versatility that kept her in Pakistan’s plans even when form was uneven. She played in her first ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in 2016 and has featured in every major Pakistan women’s squad since then.

The moment that defined her international batting career came on 19 May 2019 against South Africa. She walked in with the match in the balance and made 55, her maiden international half-century, to guide Pakistan to victory. She was named Player of the Match. That innings remains her highest T20I score and it gave Pakistan fans a glimpse of what she is capable of when the situation demands someone to take responsibility and deliver. Her ODI best of 40 shows a batter who contributes rather than dominates, and her total of 16 T20I catches shows sharp hands in the field to go with whatever she gives with the bat.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham was another milestone, where she represented Pakistan at a multi-sport event that carried its own prestige beyond the regular international cricket calendar. In August 2023 the PCB handed out the first-ever central contracts for women’s domestic players and she was among those retained, a formal recognition of her standing in Pakistani women’s cricket after a decade of service. She plays for PCB Strikers and Super Women in domestic cricket and has represented Lahore Women, Punjab Women, the Higher Education Commission and State Bank of Pakistan at various stages of her domestic career.

The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales represents her fifth major ICC tournament. Pakistan’s campaign opened with a 64-run defeat to India at Edgbaston on 14 June 2026 but Iram’s place in the squad was never in doubt. Her experience of reading match situations, anchoring the middle order and taking sharp catches makes her genuinely hard to replace even as Pakistan’s squad has grown younger around her.
