Abdul Samad Biography

Abdul Samad is a Pakistani right-handed middle-order batter from Faisalabad, born on 25 January 1998. He is known for his aggressive intent and ability to clear the ropes, a skill that has made him a sought-after finisher in domestic and franchise T20 cricket. His clean ball striking and fearless approach in the death overs are the standout features of his game.

He started his journey in domestic cricket with a List A debut for Pakistan International Airlines in December 2016, followed by his first-class debut for Faisalabad in the 2017-18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Over the seasons he has represented several sides including Sui Northern Gas, Punjab and Peshawar Zalmi, building a reputation as a powerful lower-middle-order hitter.

One of his most memorable performances came in the 2025 Pakistan Super League, when his blistering 40 off just 14 balls at a strike rate above 285 powered Peshawar Zalmi to a record 120-run win over Multan Sultans. He was named Player of the Match for that knock and three catches. He carried that form into the Pakistan Shaheens setup, scoring an unbeaten 110 off 63 balls in the 2025 Top End T20 Series to rescue his side from a difficult position.

Samad made his T20I debut for Pakistan against New Zealand in March 2025 and impressed with a gritty unbeaten 44 in a low-scoring fourth match. He earned his ODI cap against Bangladesh in March 2026. He remains a promising power-hitting option as Pakistan look to build depth in their white-ball middle order heading into the 2027 World Cup cycle.
