Biggest Upcoming Games of 2026 and 2027

Hey game lovers, Umair here! I know, I know… you are probably desperately waiting for GTA 6, right? 😄 But wait a second. Have you looked at what else is coming in 2026 and 2027?

Upcoming Games 2026-2027
Upcoming Games 2026-2027

Trust me, these two years are going to be seriously packed. We are talking about GTA 6, Wolverine, Phantom Blade Zero, Fable, Silent Hill, Gears of War and a whole bunch of other games that could easily take over our free time.

So, let’s not waste time. I’ll take you through the biggest new games coming in 2026 and 2027, including their release dates, platforms, stories and what makes each one worth keeping an eye on.

Biggest Games Coming in 2026

1. NBA 2K27

Developer: Visual Concepts
Publisher: 2K
Release: September 2026

NBA 2K27 is the next major entry in 2K’s long-running basketball series. As expected, the game is aimed at players who want a more complete basketball simulation, with improvements across gameplay, presentation and the series’ popular career and online modes.

For basketball fans, the appeal is straightforward: a new NBA season means another chance to build a MyPLAYER career, compete online and experience the latest version of 2K’s basketball formula.

2. EA Sports FC 27

Developer: EA Sports
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Release: September 25, 2026

EA Sports FC 27 arrives as the next major football game from EA. The game launches globally on September 25, 2026, with Ultimate Plus, Ultimate and Standard editions. The higher editions also offer up to seven days of early access.

For regular players, FC 27 is once again built around the modes that have made the series so popular, including Career Mode and Football Ultimate Team. There is also an FC 27 Lite version planned as a free limited preview at launch.

3. Silent Hill: Townfall

Developer: Screen Burn Interactive
Publisher: Konami
Release: September 24, 2026

Silent Hill: Townfall takes the famous horror series in a different direction. The game is set in a 1990s Scottish town and puts greater emphasis on atmosphere, exploration, puzzles and psychological horror.

The story follows Simon Ordell, an outsider who arrives in the fictional town of St. Amelia. Rather than simply relying on combat, Townfall is designed around mystery and gradually uncovering what happened in the unsettling town.

Konami has confirmed a September 24, 2026 release for PlayStation 5, with the game also coming to PC.

4. Marvel’s Wolverine

Developer: Insomniac Games
Publisher: PlayStation
Release: 2026

Marvel’s Wolverine is Insomniac Games’ darker take on one of Marvel’s most recognizable characters. Instead of another superhero ensemble adventure, the game puts Logan at the center of a standalone story built around his violent combat style and complicated past.

The project is particularly interesting because Insomniac has already shown what it can do with Marvel through Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Wolverine gives the studio an opportunity to build a more brutal and mature superhero experience around one character.

5. Gears of War: E-Day

Developer: The Coalition
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Release: 2026

Gears of War: E-Day goes back to the beginning of the franchise’s mythology. Rather than continuing the story far into the future, the game focuses on Emergence Day, the event that changed the world of Gears of War forever.

That makes E-Day especially interesting for longtime fans because the game can explore the early relationship between Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago while showing the Locust invasion from a much earlier point in the timeline.

6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Developer: Infinity Ward
Publisher: Activision
Release: October 23, 2026

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 returns to the Modern Warfare universe with a new conflict centered on the Korean Peninsula. The official story description says a North Korean invasion triggers a wider crisis, while Captain Price fights his own war from the shadows.

The campaign therefore has a different setup from the previous Modern Warfare games, while still bringing back familiar characters and the military-focused action that defines the series.

7. Phantom Blade Zero

Developer: S-GAME
Publisher: S-GAME
Release: October 29, 2026

Phantom Blade Zero is one of the most interesting action games coming in 2026. It combines fast martial-arts combat with a dark Wuxia-inspired world and a story centered on a warrior named Soul.

The game’s combat is one of its biggest selling points, with S-GAME showing increasingly detailed gameplay demonstrations ahead of release. Donnie Yen has also worked with the project as a creative consultant and performs facial and motion capture for Soul’s father, Mó Yuan.

The game is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026, with PlayStation 5 and PC versions planned.

8. Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) by Rockstar Games

Developer: Rockstar Games
Publisher: Rockstar Games
Release: November 19, 2026
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

GTA 6 is easily one of the biggest releases of 2026. Rockstar Games is taking players back to Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, with Jason and Lucia at the center of the story.

The pair are trying to make money through criminal schemes when an easy job goes wrong, pulling them into a much larger conspiracy. Rockstar describes them as two people who have been pushed to the darkest side of one of America’s brightest-looking places.

What is GTA 6 about?

At its heart, GTA 6 is a crime story about Jason and Lucia trying to survive in Leonida while their plans spiral into something much bigger. Vice City returns, but Rockstar is expanding the setting beyond the city itself, giving players a broader version of the fictional American state.

The combination of two protagonists, a new Vice City and Rockstar’s focus on environmental detail makes GTA 6 one of the most anticipated open-world games ever announced.

Biggest Games Coming in 2027

1. Stranger Than Heaven

Developer: RGG Studio
Publisher: Sega
Release: January 15, 2027

Stranger Than Heaven is the next action-adventure from RGG Studio, the team behind the Like a Dragon series. The game tells a story spanning 50 years, five different eras and several locations in Japan.

Rather than simply following the traditional Like a Dragon formula, the new game introduces a different combat system and a much broader historical setting. Sega has confirmed its January 15, 2027 release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Game Pass.

2. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Developer: Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog
Publisher: Amazon Game Studios
Release: February 12, 2027

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a modern reimagining of Lara Croft’s original adventure. The game returns to locations including Peru, Greece and Egypt while rebuilding exploration, puzzles and traversal for modern hardware.

The game uses Unreal Engine 5 and expands areas that were more limited in the original Tomb Raider. The official release date is February 12, 2027, with versions planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.

3. Fable

Developer: Playground Games
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Release: February 23, 2027

Fable returns with a new adventure set in the series’ fantasy world of Albion. The game focuses heavily on player choice, reputation and the consequences of the decisions made throughout the adventure.

Xbox has confirmed February 23, 2027 as the release date, with the game coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC and launching day one through Game Pass.

4. God of War Sequel

The next major God of War project remains one of the most closely watched PlayStation games. Details surrounding its story and release plans are still limited, so this is one title where the page should clearly separate confirmed information from speculation.

Rather than inventing a release date or story details, it is better to update this section when Sony or Santa Monica Studio officially announces more.

5. Metro 2039

Metro 2039 is another highly anticipated future entry for fans of the Metro universe. Details remain limited compared with more fully announced 2027 releases, so this section should stay relatively short until the developer provides firm information about the game’s story, platforms and launch date.

6. EXODUS

Developer: Archetype Entertainment
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast
Release: April 7, 2027

EXODUS is a story-driven sci-fi action RPG set roughly 40,000 years in the future. Players take control of Jun Aslan, a salvager who becomes a Traveler while humanity struggles against powerful enemies and the effects of time dilation.

The game combines third-person combat, exploration, companions and player choices. Archetype Entertainment has officially confirmed April 7, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

7. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: PlayStation
Release: To be announced

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s new science-fiction project and one of the studio’s biggest departures from its previous franchises.

The game follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun as she becomes stranded on the dangerous planet Sempiria. Because Sony has not confirmed a final release date, the 2027 placement should be treated as an expected window rather than a confirmed launch.

8. State of Decay 3

Developer: Undead Labs
Publisher: Xbox Game Studios
Release: 2027

State of Decay 3 expands the survival formula that made the series popular. Players build communities, manage settlements, scavenge for supplies and fight against an evolving zombie threat.

The game supports cooperative multiplayer for up to four players and is officially listed for 2027 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Xbox has also confirmed day-one availability through Game Pass.

9. Kingdom Hearts IV

Kingdom Hearts IV is the next major chapter in Square Enix’s long-running action RPG series. The game is expected to continue Sora’s journey while introducing the new setting and story direction shown in its early announcements.

However, a firm 2027 release date has not been established, so this section should remain focused on what Square Enix has actually revealed rather than treating online predictions as confirmed information.

10. God of War Trilogy Remake

A God of War trilogy remake is another project surrounded by considerable fan interest, but its status and release timing need to be treated carefully.

Until Sony officially confirms the project, it should not be presented as a locked 2027 release. If the project receives a formal announcement, this section can be expanded with the developer, platforms, story scope and confirmed release information.

11. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra brings together several Marvel heroes during World War II, including Captain America and Black Panther.

The concept is particularly interesting because it moves away from the modern Marvel setting and puts its characters into a historical wartime story. Its exact launch timing should be updated once Skydance New Media and Marvel provide a firm release date.

12. Persona 6

Persona 6 remains one of the most anticipated future JRPGs, particularly among fans who have spent hundreds of hours with Persona 5 Royal.

At this point, the safest approach is to avoid presenting a specific 2027 date as confirmed unless Atlus officially announces it. The game can still be included as a major anticipated title, but the section should clearly distinguish expectations from confirmed details.

13. Resident Evil Requiem

Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release: February 27, 2026

Resident Evil Requiem should actually be counted among the major 2026 releases, not 2027. Capcom released the ninth main installment on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game combines survival horror with more action-oriented sequences and allows players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives. Capcom later reported that it passed six million units sold, making it one of the year’s biggest releases.

Which Upcoming Games Are Worth Watching?

There is no single game that will appeal to everyone. GTA 6 is the obvious choice for open-world fans, while Phantom Blade Zero is aimed at players who want fast martial-arts combat. Silent Hill: Townfall is targeting horror fans, and games such as Fable, EXODUS and State of Decay 3 offer very different takes on RPG and survival gameplay.

The biggest thing to remember is that release schedules change. A game listed for 2027 can move into 2028, while a title with only a broad window can suddenly receive a firm launch date. For that reason, this list should be updated as developers make official announcements rather than relying on old release calendars or rumors.
