Why Pakistan Won This Test
Abdullah Shafique Batted Through Everything
160 not out in the first innings. 24 not out in the chase. Player of the Match.
Shafique batted through a collapse from 281/3 to 387 all out without being dismissed. He faced 323 balls in the first innings. His Test average climbed from 37.44 to 41.70 across this match. His average under Babar Azam’s captaincy sits at 55.29 compared to 20.52 under Shan Masood.
He stepped away from international cricket, worked on his game in the Global T20 in Guyana, and came back as a different batter. This innings confirmed that.
Sajid Khan Delivered Eight Wickets
Sajid took 4 wickets in the first innings and 4-32 in the second. Eight wickets in the match from a bowler dropped for the 1st Test in Tarouba.
He bowled with aggression on a wearing Queen’s Park surface. His combination with Ali Usman created pressure from both ends simultaneously. His 30 runs from number eight in the first innings helped Pakistan past the West Indies total. Sajid Khan is now Pakistan’s first-choice spinner for the England series.
Babar Azam Led and Performed
193 runs across the series earned him Player of the Series. A run-out on 88 denied him a Test century in the first innings. But his batting approach throughout the 2nd Test showed a captain finding form at the right time.
His field placements in the final session of Day 3 maintained pressure on Chase and Hope rather than spreading the field defensively. That produced wickets. His captaincy in the 2nd Test was more decisive than in the 1st.
Ali Usman Was the Find of the Series
Four wickets in the second innings. Economy of 1.72 across 16.5 overs. His wicket of Roston Chase off the final ball of Day 3 ended West Indies’ resistance.
Ali Usman played himself into Pakistan’s Test plans for England with a series that exceeded every expectation. He was not a certain selection before this tour. He is now.

Pakistan’s Concerns Before England
Pakistan travel to England for a three-Test series starting at Headingley, Leeds on 19 August.
Shafique at number three is settled. His ability to bat 323 balls on foreign soil is the template Pakistan need in England.
The middle order is the worry. Salman Agha contributed 20 runs across both Tests. Awais Zafar scored 1 on debut. Rizwan’s form has dipped from his Bangladesh series high. England conditions will test this group harder than anything West Indies offered.
Mohammad Abbas was not selected for either Test in this series. England with Dukes ball and seaming pitches is where Abbas performs best. His selection for Headingley is the biggest question before the squad announcement.
Shan Masood’s finger fracture means his availability for the 1st England Test is still uncertain. He will travel with the squad. His fitness will be assessed before 19 August.

Pakistan fly to England immediately after this series. Three Tests. Starting 19 August at Headingley, Leeds.
Pakistan vs England Test Series 2026 Schedule
| Test | Venue | Date |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Test | Headingley, Leeds | 19 August 2026 |
| 2nd Test | Lord’s, London | 27 August 2026 |
| 3rd Test | The Oval, London | 4 September 2026 |
England at home with a Dukes ball on seaming pitches is a different challenge from Queen’s Park Oval. Pakistan leave the Caribbean with momentum. Whether they carry it to Headingley depends on Shan Masood’s finger recovery and the selection call on Mohammad Abbas.
