There was finally something for us at Khelo Pakistan to celebrate at the T20 World Cup! Pakistan produced a strong all-round show to record their first win of the tournament, beating Canada by seven wickets in New York.

Fast Bowlers Shine

Pakistan’s fast bowlers were the day’s heroes, combining to pick up six wickets and restrict Canada to 106 for 7 in their 20 overs. Despite Aaron Johnson’s valiant 44-ball 52, Canada’s total was not insignificant by the New York venue’s standards.

Mohammad Amir kicked things off by clean-bowling Navneet Dhaliwal with a 141 km/h delivery. Shaheen Shah Afridi then recovered from conceding 10 runs in his first over to dismiss Pargat Singh. A superb throw by Imad Wasim ran out Nicholas Kirton, further denting Canada’s progress.
