KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Women’s U19 teams contest a triple round-robin T20 tri-series in Faisalabad from 2-16 October
  • Four uncapped players, Qamrosh Farhan, Malaika Suhani, Pakeeza Shabbir and Afsheen Khan, earned selection directly off their performances in the National Women’s U19 Tournament
  • The series marks the first women’s international cricket event at Iqbal Stadium, which returned to international cricket in November 2025 after a 17-year gap

Four uncapped names have been added to Pakistan’s Women’s U19 squad, and every one of them earned the call-up on the same page in the record book. The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed a triple round-robin T20 tri-series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Faisalabad from 2-16 October, and the fresh faces in Fizza Fiaz’s squad are there because of specific, recent domestic numbers, not reputation or rotation.

The Selection Story Behind the Squad

Pakeeza Shabbir was named best batter of the National Women’s U19 Tournament with 283 runs. Afsheen Khan took the best bowler award with 18 wickets bowling right-arm off-spin. Malaika Suhani scored 192 runs in the same tournament.

Qamrosh Farhan added 139 runs and joins the squad alongside her sister Ravail Farhan, already an established member of the side.

Four maiden call-ups, four separate performance lines, all from the same domestic tournament just completed. That is as close to a merit-based selection paper trail as women’s age-group cricket in Pakistan produces, and it stands in useful contrast to the selection disputes that have dominated coverage of the men’s senior side this year.

Tri-Series Format and Schedule

The tri-series runs on a triple round-robin format, each team playing the other two three times each, for six matches per side before the top two meet in the final. Ten matches in total will be played across the two weeks.

PCB set the format specifically to maximise playing time for the age-group players, with the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup and the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup both on the calendar in the near future.

A First for Iqbal Stadium

This tri-series will be the first women’s international cricket event ever staged at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. The ground returned to international cricket only in November 2025, ending a 17-year absence from the international calendar when South Africa played a three-match ODI series there against Pakistan’s men’s team.

A historic men’s return followed less than a year later by a first-ever women’s international fixture gives the venue a genuinely new chapter in a short space of time.

Squad Rotation Rules

Only 15 of the 20 named players will be considered for selection on any given match day. The remaining five will stay with the squad in Faisalabad throughout the series and rotate into the matchday 15 across the tournament, giving the wider group live tournament exposure even without an immediate playing role.

The full squad arrives in Faisalabad for a 12-day training camp at Iqbal Stadium and Bohranwala, including at least four intra-squad practice matches before the tri-series begins.
