Pakistan Squad Updated: Hasan Nawaz Out, Fakhar Zaman Returns in Tri-Series 2025
Pakistan squad updated for upcoming tri-series 2025 after late changes on Sunday, with Hasan Nawaz released from both white-ball teams and Fakhar Zaman returning to the T20I side for the tri-series.
The PCB announced the squad changes ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka starting November 11. The tri-nation tournament featuring Zimbabwe begins on November 17 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Hasan Nawaz will return to domestic cricket to play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The 22-year-old struggled against South Africa, scoring just 9 runs in three innings. His recent form included scores of 3, 5 and 1 in the ODI series.
Why Was Hasan Nawaz Dropped from the Pakistan Squad?
Hasan Nawaz’s poor performance against South Africa led to his removal from both squads. The young batter made his international debut in March 2025 and scored the fastest T20I century for Pakistan with 105 runs off 44 balls against New Zealand.
Fakhar Zaman vs Hasan Nawaz: T20I Stats Comparison
Fakhar Zaman brings valuable experience with 109 T20I matches and over 2,000 runs. His average of 24 and 13 half-centuries show consistency. Despite Hasan Nawaz having a higher strike rate of 185, his recent form of five consecutive single-digit scores influenced the selection decision.
Series Schedule and What’s Next
Pakistan faces Sri Lanka in three ODIs at Rawalpindi from November 11 to 15. The matches serve as preparation for the tri-series starting November 17.
The T20I tournament runs until November 29 across Rawalpindi and Lahore. Zimbabwe replaced Afghanistan after the latter withdrew due to tensions with Pakistan.
