T20I Tri-Series Confirmed Before Asia Cup 2025, Says Naqvi

In a major update for South Asian cricket fans, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has officially confirmed a T20I Tri-Series featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and UAE, to be held in the UAE ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.

Speaking after the ACC Annual General Meeting in Dhaka, Naqvi stated:
“Yes, it’s confirmed and will take place before the Asia Cup in UAE.”

This announcement brings clarity to Pakistan’s pre-Asia Cup preparations, providing the Men in Green a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their squad in similar playing conditions. The T20I Tri-Series is expected to draw attention from fans across the region, with competitive matchups and high stakes.

Afghanistan, UAE Onboard for High-Stakes Series

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf confirmed that what was originally a bilateral series with Pakistan has now evolved into a tri-nation event, with UAE joining as the host.

“The tri-nation series will help us prepare better for the Asia Cup,” said Ashraf.

He also affirmed that ACB has no objection to the venue.

This marks a strategic shift in how Asian teams are preparing for multi-nation tournaments. The UAE pitch conditions, player rotation, and match pressure all offer a solid rehearsal for September’s Asia Cup.

“I wish we can have it. Definitely, we would like to have it,” he said, when asked about the potential series involving Australia and Bangladesh.
