Khushdil Shah Penalized for ICC Code Breach in First T20I Against New Zealand

Ahead of the highly anticipated 2nd T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand, Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah has landed in hot water! The ICC has penalized Shah for breaching the Code of Conduct during the first T20I, where he made inappropriate physical contact with bowler Zakary Foulkes in the 8th over.

50% Match Fee Deducted – ICC Issues Official Sanctions

In a major setback, Khushdil Shah has been fined 50% of his match fees under Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits physical contact with another player or official. The Match Referee, Jeff Crowe, also slapped Shah with three demerit points, pushing him dangerously close to a suspension.

Will Khushdil Shah Be Banned for 2nd T20I?

Fortunately for Shah, he barely escaped a ban. ICC’s statement clarified that if he had received four or more demerit points, he would have faced a two-match suspension. However, as this was his first offense in 24 months, he remains eligible for selection in the next game.
