Former Cricket Coach Suspended After Sending Sexual Images to Female Colleagues

In a case that has rocked the county cricket structure, the Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) handed down a nine-month suspension to an unnamed former cricket coach, citing five breaches of professional conduct. The panel confirmed that the coach sent unsolicited sexual images to two junior staffers—both significantly younger and professionally junior to him.

The independent panel refused to reveal the identity of the man due to “exceptional health-related circumstances” and a “serious risk of harm” if his name became public.

BBC Sport’s Emma Smith, reporting on the scandal, revealed that the second victim was considerably younger, and that the coach “occupied a far more senior position” within the cricket club where both women worked.

“He hoped that now he was emerging as a better person,” the panel report noted. “He had a greater understanding of workplace boundaries, the misuse of social media and what amounted to sexual harassment.”

Despite showing “genuine remorse” and undergoing educational sessions with a former professional sportswoman, the coach was sacked and has not returned to the sport since.

Cricket Regulator Issues Stern Warning

Chris Haward, managing director of the cricket regulator, condemned the actions, saying:

“This kind of conduct is unacceptable.
Where such instances are identified they will be investigated and those responsible will be held to account.
Removing sexual misconduct from the game is a priority for the cricket regulator. We recognise that it takes a lot of courage for those impacted to come forward.”
