Rafa Nadal blazed to an eighth consecutive Monte

Carlo Masters title as he ended a seven-match

losing streak against Novak Djokovic with an

emphatic 6-3 6-1 victory on Sunday. Djokovic

had dominated Nadal like no one else could since

the start of 2011, beating the Spanish superstar

in seven consecutive finals.

Nadal picked up an early break and rolled from

there. He closed out the first set in 46 minutes

with a second break, as Djokovic blew a shot

wide after saving one set point with a perfect

serve and volley. Djokovic sent a backhand long

to give Nadal a break for a 2-0 lead in the second

set and the 10-time Grand Slam champ solidified

it with a hold at love in the next game.

Playing in her first Grand Slam final and with the No.1 ranking on the line, Victoria Azarenka stepped up in a big way, recording a runaway 6-3 6-0 win over Maria Sharapova in the Australian Open Final.

Victoria Azarenka celebrates her first Grand Slam title by planting a kiss on the Australian Open trophy after easy win Saturday.

With the winner of the final guaranteed to rise to No.1 next week, her first Grand Slam title wasn't the only thing Azarenka was playing for. And it seemed like maybe it was on her mind as she had a slow start, losing the first two games then falling behind 0-30 in the third - but she came alive from there, holding and then breaking back, then from 3-all going on an absolute tear, winning the next nine games in a row to polish off the one-hour, 22-minute victory.

Here's a round up of all the matches that took place in men's singles draw on Day 6:

No. 1 Novak Djokovic d. Nicolas Mahut (6-0, 6-1, 6-1)

Not surprisingly, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic made an example of journeyman Nicolas Mahut. While Mahut may have played the longest match in tennis history against John Isner at Wimbledon in 2010, his crushing defeat against Djokovic probably ranks as one of the shorter three-set matches ever. Djoker has been dominant on hard courts last season, so Mahut never stood much of a chance, as Djokovic seems destined for yet another Aussie Open final.

No. 4 Andy Murray d. Michael Llodra (6-4, 6-2, 6-0)

He may not get the same publicity as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer since

he has yet to win a major, but No. 4 Andy Murray has been just as impressive thus far. He may be the best hard-court player in the game behind Djokovic, and it showed in his three-set destruction of Michael Llodra.

Spain's team celebrates after winning the tennis Davis Cup final against Argentina in Seville, Spain, Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011. Photo: Miguel Angel Morenatti / APWorld No. 2 Rafael Nadal overcame Juan Martin del Potro in the an exciting thriller winning the fifth Davis Cup title for his country. The Spaniards were 3-1 against Argentina.

Rafael Nadal defeated Juan Martin del Potro 16 64 61 76 (0) at Seville's Olympic Stadium on Sunday to hand Spain their fifth Davis Cup.

The classic contest lasted 4 hours 8 minutes.Nadal was completely dominated at the start of the match as del Potro raced out of the blocks and won seven straight games to take a set and a break lead, but the world No. 2 snatched a crucial game at the start of the second set that swung the momentum.

When Nadal broke again to win the  second set it looked like he was on his way to a comfortable  victory. He walked through the third set and went a break up at the start of the fourth, but then del Potro, lifted by the Argentine fans, staged a remarkable comeback. In an enthralling fourth set, which swung one way and then the other on more than a few occasions, del Potro served to take the match into a decider, only for Nadal to break back.
