The world's top three players all scaled dizzy heights in 2012 but Novak Djokovic ended the year staring down at his rivals after grinding down Roger Federer to win the ATP World Tour Finals title in brutal fashion at London's O2 Arena on Monday. The 25-year-old shed sweat and blood before dethroning Federer 7-6 7-5 in a showdown that provided a memorable climax to an incredible men's season.

Since winning a fifth grand slam title at the Australian Open in a near six-hour epic against Rafa Nadal back in January, Djokovic's reign has come under attack from both Federer and Britain's Andy Murray, but after beating both in London he is clearly still the dominant force going into 2013.World number two Federer has been all but unbeatable in the tournament since it switched to London in 2009 and was seeking a hat-trick of titles at the eye-catching Thames-side dome.

The London Olympics 2012 have begun and out of all the events that will be a part of the London games, the tennis event will surely be one of the best ones . Although the tennis event at the Olympics has always been highly athletic and full of dramatic moments, yet this year's competiton is something more special. One of the reasons for this is the level of competitiveness that men's tennis has right now. The World's top four players have one of the best rivalries that tennis  has ever seen throughout its entire history. So here are some predictions regarding the medalists at London Olympics 2012 Men's tennis event:
 World No.1 Roger Federer :
Roger Federer is a guy that has won everything that a tennis player could ever wish for except just one thing ..... the Olympics Singles Gold medal. This gold medal has been a craving that Fed-ex has had in himself for so long. Before London 2012, Roger has participated in two Olympics, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. But on both the occasions, despite being the World No.1, he couldn't grab the Olympic Gold. Although Roger has won an Olympic gold in the men's doubles event with Stanislas Wawrinka at Beijing 2008 games, but that isn't enough to put him in the list of players have completed a Golden-Slam, the only list in which Federer is not present because of the absence of an Olympic Singles' Gold-medal .With the defending champion Rafael Nadal out of action from the Olympics 2012, Roger Federer will have a golden chance to add an Olympic Singles gold medal to that huge list of his trophies including 17 Grandslam titles and 20 ATP 1000 Masters titles.

Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray in the final of Wimbledon 2012 to win his 17th Grandslam title overall and his 7th Wimbledon title. By doing so, Federer has now regained the No.1 spot in the World rankings.Roger has also become the second man in the history to become the World No.1 at the age of 30-plus years. Federer will now overtake Pete Sampras in the all-time number of weeks as World No.1. Federer, who was removed from the No.1 position by Rafa Nadal in 2010 , was just a week short of equalling Pete Sampras's record of 286 weeks as the World No.1.

Watched by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, the 30-year-old Swiss defeated the fourth-ranked Murray 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday in the final of The Championships, which lasted three hours and 24 minutes.

Day-7 action at Wimbledon 2012  again shook the tennis world as an upset saw Women's World No.1 Maria Sharapova crash out in straight sets. Maria tasted defeat at the hands of Sabine Lisicki in straight sets 6-4,6-3.

On the men's side ,the first match at centre court was scheduled to take place between the sixteen time major Champion Roger Federer and the veteran Xavier Malisse. In the first set when the score was 4-3 in Federer's favour with Malisse serving, Roger, to the utmost shock of everyone, took a medical time-out because of a back-problem.When play resumed in extreme windy conditions, Malisse managed to break Federer and was serving for the set at 6-5.But he failed to hold on to his serve and eventually ended up losing the  first set on tie-break.Federer completely dominated in the second set and took it away 6-1. Xavier again got going in the third set and captured it 6-4. Malisse continued his form early in the fourth set but then simply lost it and got broken twice to lose the fourth set 6-3 and the match with a score of 7-6(1) 6-1 4-6 6-3.

After the shocking departure of Rafa Nadal on day-4 and the mere escape of Roger Federer from a huge upset on day-5 , Day-6  at Wimbledon 2012 was being thought of as one of the cool days without much shocking out-of-nowhere moments.

The first men's match on Centre Court was scheduled to be played between the former World No.1 and 2009 Wimbledon finalist Andy Roddick and the spirited Spaniard David Ferrer. Even before the match had begun, it was pretty clear that whoever would go on to wn the match wouldn't be doing so in straight sets. After a steady start from both the players in the first set, Roddick took the lead and raced away with the ser  6-2. David came back strongly in the second set and won it on tie-break 7-6(10-8). Ferrer continued to dominate in the third set and bagged it 6-4. In the fourth set, Ferrer maintained his form and didn't give the American any chance to get back in the match. Ferrer took the fourth set 6-3 and closed all doors for Roddick to move through to the next round.

A day after World No. 2 Rafa Nadal went out in a shocking second-round exit, third-ranked Roger Federer nearly joined him in defeat on Friday. The six-time  Wimbledon champion overcame a two-set deficit to edge Julien Benneteau 4-6, 6-7(3), 6-2, 7-6(6), 6-1 in the third round.

“It's always one of the best feelings coming back from two sets to love in a Grand Slam, and in particular here at Wimbledon where I have been able to do it before,” said Federer. Benneteau was within two points of victory on six occasions in the fourth set, including twice in the tie-break at 5-5 and 6-6. He went for his shots on each point, but was outdueled by Federer.

The first three days of  action at Wimbledon 2012 had had a few upsets and shocking come-backs with some of the big names like Serena Williams exitting tournament early. But no such upsets were being expected from day-4 as both of the big names on the men's side ,Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray, were scheduled to face relatively easy opponents. But what actually happened was beyond everyone's expectation and even imagination.

First up on Centre Court, it was the half Brit-half Scot Andy Murray against the 6foot-11 giant "Ace-Machine" Ivo Karlovic. Murray didn't face much resistance in the first set and bagged it 7-5. In the second set, Ivo's raquet started firing aces, like it usually does, forcing a tie-breaker whic Karlovic eventually won 7-6(7-5). The third set saw Ivo run out of gas and Murray fully capitalised on it . Andy took away the third set 6-2. Karlovic again found his touch in the fourth set and forced a tie-breaker but this time, Karlovic didn't have luck on his side and his rare double-fault gave Murray that narrow window of opportunity that he needed to close out the set and the match.Murray didn't waste any chance o availing the opportunity and sealed his victory in four sets 7-5 6-7(5) 6-2 7-6(4).After the match, Ivo blasted out on the tourament authorities saying that he doubted their credibility and that he felt "cheated".Karlovic was foot-faulted eleven times during the match.

Day-2 at the All England Tennis Championships saw top seeds Rafa Nadal, Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga move through to the next round unchallenged. In the first match on Centre Court, it was the seven-time Roland Garros Champion Rafael Nadal who faced off against the brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. Nadal got off to the worst possible start and got broken twice to hand over a 4-0 lead to Bellucci. But then Bellucci failed to stay in the driving seat and lost the first set to Rafa on tie-break 7-6(7-0). Nadal then raced away with the next two sets 6-2 and 6-3 to book his place in the second round.

Andy Murray took the famed Centre Court in the second match of day-2 against Nikolay Davydenko of Russia. Although the match seemed to be a competetive affair on papers , but actually it was much more simple than that. The 30-year old Russian proved out to be no match for Murray, who destroyed him in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to cruise into the second round.
