Today, twenty years have passed since Pakistan’s historic triumph at Melbourne. It’s a day many Pakistanis look up to with pride. A day Pakistan beat their colonial masters to stake a claim on dominance of the cricketing world.

For many, the 1987 heartache at Lahore had been cured.Talents that would carry the mantle of Pakistan cricket in years to come had been unearthed. A glorious career of an able and charismatic leader had come to a befitting climax.

Being Pakistan’s solitary world cup victory, makes it even more special for the Pakistani fans around the globe. Pakistan’s journey in this tournament epitomized their innate ability to leave the opposition flabbergasted with their inconsistency.

Even the most optimistic of opinions would have written them off halfway through the tournament. It was a safe bet against a team which had managed a solitary win in its first five games. Yet it took one man’s unshakeable resolve and a stroke of luck to drive Pakistan to top of the world.

Chipper, chirpy and cheerful; Boom Boom is back with a boooooooom! Another 5-wicket haul for him. Now confined to the role of a senior member of the side only, this bouncy character has not much to do in the field than just to bowl. So imagine where does all the yearning to pat a few backs and change a few positions or roar a few suggestions to a down-and-out bowler go…

Not sure? It simply clamps on to his status as world’s most destructive bowler. With Shoaib Akhtar out of the scene, Brett Lee not getting any younger and other express bowlers not making their mark like the former two champions, this era belongs to spin greats and Afridi stands tall amongst them.

Every young cricketer dreams of playing for his country. Only the very lucky few get the chance, most keep dreaming and waiting. It is the ultimate high, representing millions of people, knowing you are the best amongst them, making them proud, making your parents proud, raising your country's name as high as possible. Everybody should have the right to be considered for selection but should anyone be given 2 rights after they have abused the first one?Every young cricketer dreams of playing for his country. Only the very lucky few get the chance, most keep dreaming and waiting. It is the ultimate high, representing millions of people, knowing you are the best amongst them, making them proud, making your parents proud, raising your country's name as high as possible.

Everybody should have the right to be considered for selection but should anyone be given 2 rights after they have abused the first one?

Mohammed Amir, along with two other cricketers were banned and jailed for spot-fixing last year. There is outrage and disgust at the two senior players but surprisingly there is sympathy for Amir because of his age. Now the jail term is nearing its end and Amir will soon be released from prison. His lawyers may appeal for his ban to be shortened so he can play cricket sooner rather than later. Now the question arises, Should Amir be allowed to play for Pakistan again?

I would love to know if you agree or not. I ask the question : Should he play for Pakistan again?

Rajasthan  claimed their second successive Ranji Trophy at the Chinnaswamy stadium, Chennai earlier today . They defeated Tamil Nadu on the basis of 1st innings lead.

Rajasthan won the toss and chose to bat on one of the flattest tracks ever, they scored  621 in 245 overs with Aakash Chopra making 94 and Vineet Saxena scoring 257. Kanitkar (67), Bist (57), Parida (40) and Rituraj Singh (45) also made useful contributions.

The hosts' vaunted batting line-up crumbled as they could manage to score only 295 in their 1st innings with Mukund, Murali Vijay and Badrinath failing and only Dinesh Karthik fought bravely with 150.

Former Pakistani captain and Twenty20 hot property, Shahid Khan Afridi, who is currently playing for Melbourne regenades in Australia, has shunned the dollars for national duty by opting out of the Bangladesh Premier League where he was the costliest player after fetching a price tag of USD 700,000 in the auction.

Mervyn Westfield, the 23 year old Essex Fast bowler today declared himself guilty of Spot-Fixing a 40 over game against Durham back in September 2009. This comes two months after the Pakistan trio were sentenced to jail for fixing a bracket of no-balls in the Lords Test against England in 2010. So where has the Westfield being guilty taken us? Is the question.

Looking at the forums around the Internet, I have seen many Pakistani fans in jubilation. What happened with Salman, Asif and Amir was they got caught doing something they should have not done. Blame the News Of The World, ICC, the British justice system, the PCB or anyone else; you reap what you sow. They were apart of a sting which, believe it or not, help Pakistani cricket no ends in the long run.
