Day-4 of the French open 2012 started off in a much similar fashion to day-3 as most of the top seeds claimed victories while some were surprisingly shown the exit door.
The first men's match that took place on Court Philippe Chatrier featured the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer facing the very spirited Adrian Ungur of Romania . In the beginning of the match , there was a show of complete utter dominance by Roger,as he took the first set 6-3 . The second set also didn't create any problems for the 16-time grandslam champion and he clinched it 6-2 . In the third set , Adrian Ungur found his touch and the set went to tie-break where the Romanian hit two amazing shots to bag the thrid set 7-6. In the fourth set, Roger again got the early break and held on firmly to his service games to seal his victory in four sets 6-3, 6-2,6-7, 6-3.
In the first mens' encounter on Court Suzanne lenglen, Novak Djokovic was up against Blaz Kavcic of Slovakia. It turned out to be a rather easy match for Djokovic, who crossed the finish line in victorious fashion defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-4, 6-4.
Among other matches, American Brian Baker's cinderella story came to an end when he tasted defeat at hands of Gilles Simon 6-4 6-1 6-7(4) 1-6 6-0. One-half of the Williams Sisters had already been eliminated from the french Open. But Day-4 saw Venus following the same trend as Serena, getting ousted from the tournament by Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2 6-3. The Shocker of Day-4 came when eight seed Marion Bartoli was upset by unseeded Petra Martic.
In the men's doubles event , the team of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Rojer Jean Julien cruised into the second round by claiming victory against the team of Jonathan Dasnieres de Viegy and Nicolas Renavad in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Aisam, however, failed to deliver much in the mixed doubles event, where he got ousted in the first round by the duo of Galina Voskoboeva and Danielle Bracciali in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 . Aisam-ul-Haq has to play the final of French Open 2012 in order to qualify for the London Olympics 2012.
