Much like the Day-1 of the French Open, Day-2 saw top ranked players comfortably moving through to the next round with none of the players making the early exit.

World No.1 player Novak Djokovic was up against the Italian Potito Starace in the first men's match of Day-2 on Court Philippe Chartier. The Serb had to face some early trouble but managed to get through the first set 7-6. From there onwards , it was an easy way for Novak to the second round and he completely dominated the Italian player in the second and third sets to clinch victory in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 , 6-1. “He’s a clay-court specialist and he has given a lot of trouble to the top players on this surface,”.“But maybe it was good for me to have the tough first set and try to find the good control and rhythm and movement on the court.”Djokovic said afterwards.

World No.3 16-time grandslam champion Roger Federer was then set to face Tobias Kamke of Germany on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Roger faced no problem in routing his opponent in straight sets registering a 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 win to make it through to the 2nd round. Roger Federer has now equalized Jimmy Connors' record for most  grandslam matches wins and has also gone past the 50-match winning mark at Roland Garros."I get a great deal of pleasure playing here. When I play well, the numbers come with me. It's great to have played and won here so often. I hope it continues."said the World No.3 after the match.

In other matches, Bernard Tomic crusied to a straight sets victory over Austrian qualifier, Andreas Haider-Maurer 7-6 6-3 6-3. The win for Tomic sets up a 2nd round clash with Santiago Giraldo and a win there could see a potential matchup with Brit, Andy Murray. Australian, Matthew Ebden was also in action on day 2 but went down to #24 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber in a competitive match 6-4, 6-4, 7-6.An interesting situation occurred in the men’s match between and Alex Bogomolov and Arnaud Clement of France. Bogomolov was down a match point at 5-4 in the fifth before retiring due to leg cramps.

The shock of day-2 took place when former World No.3 David Nalbandian was shown the exit door by Adrian Unqur, who defeated the Argentine in  four sets 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 to make his way into the 2nd round .The 7th ranked Tomas Berdych also cruised into the second round by bagging a straight sets victory against Dudi Sela of Israel.
