Pakistani bowler Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan has said that he has no intentions of retiring from international cricket soon despite being constantly ignored by the selectors.
Rana Naveed was banned from representing the green shirts for an year after the team's disastrous tour of Australia in 2010. He has not been considered for selection ever since, despite the lifting of the ban.
"I was expecting to be in the mix of the [Sri Lanka] tour, but was distraught to find out that it wasn't the case", Naveed told a newspaper, "But despite the repeated overlooking, I'm in no mood of throwing in the towel, because I can still play at the top level for at least two years and will work hard to play for Pakistan again."
"As fas as Test cricket goes, my carreer is finished, and, I don't see myself playing tests for Pakistan again. But I still have the required fitness to excel in T20s and ODIs", he added.
Naveed has made his mark in many domestic T20 leagues with his all-round performance including Friends Life T20, The Big Bash League, Faysal Bank T20 cup and the Bangladesh Premier League.
"My performances all around the world speak for themselves. If I had lost touch with cricket, or wasn't good enough to be playing, I wouldn't have been doing so well in these events all over the world against quality opposition," Naveed said, "Also, there is time before Pakistan's 2012 World T20 squad is announced. I am looking to do well for Derbyshire in June [in Friends Life T20] to stake my claims for a place in the squad. Hopefully, I will get one more chance to represent Pakistan".
Over his carreer for green shirts, Rana Naveed has played 9 tests, scoring 239 runs and taking 18 wickets at an average of 58.
