Another splendid performance by the Spanish Giants, thrashing Qatari Club Al-Sadd’s run in the Club World Cup. Adriano showed his class by scoring two goals in the contest well supported by goals of young Maxwell and Kieta. Barca will now face Brazilian side Santos in the Club World Cup final on Sunday. This would be Barcelona’s Fourth Club World Cup final.
Barcelona, who were favorites in this match dominated their opponents throughout the match. Exerting pressure resulting in goals from Adriano, Maxwell and Kieta. Although, celebrations were muted by a serious injury sustained by David Villa who could be out for a long period.
Barcelona now face the Brazilian side Santos to win the Club World Cup second time. First Club World Cup victory came in Abu Dhabi in 2009.
Sight Over The Match:
Barcelona were in their finest touches as they dominated the Asian Champions who couldn’t even make one on-target shot on the goal in the match. Due to the defensive tactics from Al-Sadd, Barcelona were finding in easier to work around with their one touch passing tactics. Al-Sadd were too much defensive as they even sacrificed many of their counter attack chances, as if they were on the pitch just for defend.
With Pedro active from the left wing it was only the matter of time for the first goal to come. It was Adriano who got a fine assist from a mix up of Al-Sadd defender and goalkeeper over a back pass, as the Brazilian seized the opportunity to score the first goal for Barcelona. Celebrations couldn’t be longer as the goal was followed by the dread full incident of Villa’s injury in which he fractured his left Tibia.
It was again Adriano who scored for the second time in a far much better attempt then the first one after receiving a superb pass from Thiago. Barca went into the second half rather calmly, knowing that the game was in their control. Rival’s goalkeeper Mohammed was in a busy evening receiving a fine conversion from Kieta which made it 3-0. Moments after the third one, Maxwell went firing from the left wing to score his first goal for the season making it final for the evening.
Asian Champions needed to be far away from the stage where they can trouble the Catalan giants who seemed to have a free pass to do whatever they would like to. Barcelona would face a rather better opponent in the Finale, as Santos will not be as easy as Al-Sadd were. Hope to see a good contest on Sunday.
