Former Fast Bowler Mohammad Asif has been released today from Canterbury prison after serving six months of his 1-year jail sentence. Asif, Amir, Salman Butt and Mazhar Majeed were all found guilty by Southwark Crown Court in London of accepting payments to bowl deliberate no-balls during a test match between Pakistan and England at Lords in August 2010. Asif and Butt denied the charges while Amir pleaded guilty. Amir was sentenced to six months in prison and was released after three months, Salman Butt was sentenced to 30 months in prison while the master mind Mazhar Majeed was sentenced to 32 months. The trio was also banned from international cricket by the ICC, Amir for 5 years, Asif for 7 (3 suspended) and Salman Butt for 10 (5 suspended).
