A day when it was all about two arch-rivals’ traditionally hyped up clash, Virat Kohli overshadowed it by providing probably one of the finest and this year’s most fabulous ODI innings. With his monumental 183, he single-handedly took India into the final; setting up another mouth-watering clash against Pakistan, barring Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka.
Kohli was the main architect of India’s highest ever chase in an ODI. He walked in after India were off too a disastrous start having lost Gambhir to the second ball of innings, lbw to Hafeez. Together with Sachin Tendulkar, he managed to keep the run rate in check as India blazed to 100 in the 16th over.
With India galloping at that stage, Saeed Ajmal produced a delivery as spectacular as Tendulkar’s batsmanship to undo him. Rohit Sharma walked in with India moderately placed at 133 for 2.
