Pakistan Cricket supremo, Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf has indicated that there are no immediate plans of removing Misbah ul Haq from captaincy in any format.

‘Whatever decisions we take, will be in the best interest of Pakistan Cricket’, he added.

He further said that Misbah has done a fabulous job as Captain and the fans should continue to back him up. He was asked whether any decision has been taken to appoint 3 different captains for all formats, and his reply was that the PCB will consider this suggestion in due time, after getting feedback from ex-cricketers and then reach a consensus.

‘Important decisions such as these should not be made in haste,’ he concluded.

The security team nominated by the Bangladesh Cricket Board to review the on ground situation in Pakistan will land in Islamabad on Friday. The team will meet Minister of Interior Rehman Malik and will then be taken to the PCB HQ in Lahore.

The Bangladeshi security team will be briefed on the security arrangements by Pakistan Cricket Board officials in Lahore. After which, they will travel back to Bangladesh to report to their higher ups. The final decision to go ahead with the tour rests with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The Bengal Tigers will become the first cricket team to travel to Pakistan, after the Srilankan Cricket team was attacked by gunmen in Lahore during their tour of Pakistan in 2009.

The GoP and PCB have promised Presidential level security to visiting teams in the future.

India named their squad for the Asia Cup this afternoon with a few surprises; the axing of opening batsman Virender Sehwag being the major news. Along with Sehwag, Fast bowlers Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav have been rested. Their are re-calls for allrounder Yusuf Pathan and Ashok Dinda, who conmes back after two years out.

There was major speculation that the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and captain Mahendra Dhoni will also sit out, but those rumours proved to be unfruitful. Sehwag's apparant 'rest' comes after he managed to score 143 runs in 7 innings in the current CB series in Australia.

Akmal’ed and Malik’ed in the same game, the poor batting form seems to have finally unruffled Mohammad Hafeez’s well composed exterior. The body language can only take a certain amount of toll, before giving way to the inner storm that has been brewing inside Professor’s head.

With aggressive batting at the top by the re-born Hafeez has won over a plethora of fans over the past year, but recent struggles with the bat (he remains an uncanny off-spinner) have played havoc with his confidence and self belief during the recently concluded tour of UAE against England.

His first ball return catch duck against Jade Dernbach was a classic example of a man void of self-belief. A tame poke back to the bowler, with the bat turning in his hand was uncharacteristic of a man who usually creams those with ease to the cover boundary.

What unraveled at Abu Dhabi is indeed perplexing.A chase that should’ve never gone that far did. As an avid Pakistani cricket follower, it was a genuine disappointment.

It was imperative that the Greenshirts will be lamented for a poor approach to a below par total. Any team that flounder such a chase should be. Though, irony of the situation was that it wasn’t the team that got lamented but the captain.

A captain credited with marshalling a 3-0 whitewash against the world’s No.1 Test side,a captain who took reigns of a disgraced team, a captain responsible for bringing work ethic in a team of individual heroes, a captain behind the unity of a disintegrated unit, a captain who led his country to six overseas victories in the team’s best year on a cricket field by far, a captain whose approach may not be overwhelming

but yielded results which in a sport is the ultimate goal.

Dear Misbah,

Firstly I'd like to start by saying your a Test legend. A man that came to our rescue when three cheats had turmoiled the name of Pakistan, let alone the cricket team. People were calling for Pakistan to be expelled from International cricket. From the draw against South Africa till the white-washing of the number one Test side in the World; you have restored the pride into Pakistan cricket.

Moving onto the limited overs and where do I start? The 2007 cricket World T20 Cup, saw your return to the International fold. You was installed on the request of, then captain, Shoaib Malik. People seem to have forgot that the trust paid into you by Malik was repaid by you. You ended the tournament as Pakistan's top run-getter. Whilst the rest of the batting folded like a pack of cards, you stood tall in the final and took Pakisan perilously close against the arch-rivals. All that was ever remembered was THAT shot.

Engima continues
In the middle of batting collapses in summer of 2009 in Sri Lanka, mercurial Pakistan’s batting line-up discovered its brightest prince at least of the last decade or so. The prince did announce himself at the grand stage, with a huge bang. With Kamran already in the side for quite some time, no one even thought that Umar will be overshadowed by the elder Akmal, even before making it into the side, Umar's talent was evident in A team’s tour of Australia whereby he absolutely thrashed the Aussies to score two hundreds. Australia has never been a romantic trip for the Pakistani top order, extra bounce and pace enforcing failures was almost written on the wall against top quality bowling attacks. This prolific show down under put him under the radar of the selection panel and it was not long before he was rushed into the deep waters of International Cricket. After a batting failure in 1st ODI in Sri Lanka, following a miserable series of painful collapses in three tests which brought a humiliating 2-0 series defeat, it became imperative for team management to try this wonder boy. The wonder boy did not disappointed even a single bit, just in 2nd innings at the big stage Umar was off the hook with a fifty, just to follow it up with a master class hundred in 3rd ODI coming at six with team once more in crisis. He thrashed Murli as if he were the king and Murli were still a new comer to International Cricket. It did not end here, in the test debut he showed us the batting similar to that of Viv Richard's. In first innings he was as destructive and demoralizing for likes of veterans like Daniel Vettori, Bond and Martin as it can get. The 2nd innings were more composed and calm, showing the signs of great Inzi in a tough run chase.

Ever since he made his debut in International Cricket way back in 2000/2001, Mohammad Sami has been considered as one of the most under rated and under achieved Pakistani Cricketers. Following the Pakistani tradition of Fast Bowling, Sami had everything to become a regular feature in the Pakistani team as a front line operator, raw pace, smooth run-up, and beautiful action. Unlike many quick bowlers, Sami never had fitness issues, he always maintained high levels of fitness and even after 12 years today he has the same pace and has not changed his attacking approach.

Sami The Under AchieverMohammad Sami made his test debut against New Zealand at Auckland in 2001 and had a Dream Debut as he picked up 8 Kiwi Wickets in the test match and was judged Man of the Match in his first game. He followed this with a Hat-Trick against Sri Lanka in just his 3rdtest match and in the same year picked up an ODI Hat-Trick against West Indies as well. This was enough to keep Sami in the Pakistani team as a premier fast bowler, despite Fast Bowling greats like Waqar Younus, Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar being there in the team.

Sami performed well in the chances he got initially, however his main breakthrough came after the 2003 World Cup, when the two W’s and Shoaib Akhtar were axed from the squad, and Sami became the leader of the pack of the Fast Bowlers in a young team that was going through a rebuilding process.
