What happened last year on the 27th and 28th August doesn’t need too much air time. The whole of the Cricketing world was rocked by the allegations made by the News Of The World, a Sunday Newspaper in the UK. What followed was a sense of some people in complete denial and some coming to a guilty judgement even without a proper definition on what had actually happened. Here is my view, on how I have feel today while two of three players stand in court and the third, apparently, pleading guilty.

15 years ago, in the Justice Qayyum report several judgments were made and implemented to an extent. These included the following: -

1) Salim Malik was banned for life after he was found guilty of match-fixing and having links with bookmakers. He was told he can’t play any first class Cricket and not any role in any coaching position.

2) Ata-Ur-Rehman was also banned for life like Malik and put on the same restrictions.

3) It was recommended that Wasim Akram was removed from the captaincy and would not hold a position of authority with the Pakistan team.

4) Even though nothing was proved against Waqar Younis and Saeed Anwar but they were fined for not co-operating and hence withholding information.

The problem I find is Pakistan Cricket got this report, held in reason for some time, forgot and moved on. If all what was said in the Qayyum report implemented to its fullest maybe the Amir and Asif’s of today would have known the consequences of such actions and would not have done what they have supposed to have done. The future generations of players would have learn’t and not made the same mistakes as what were made back then.

Today in court, a statement was read which was from Major Javed, the security manager of the Pakistan team. In the statement a few startling revelations were made, these included:

Indian Premier League has once again denied to allow Pakistani players in its next edition, which is to be played in 2012. The meeting of IPL's governing council was held today at Hyderabad, where it was decided that there will be no Pakistani players in the next edition of IPL.

The Indian Premier League's newly appointed chairman Rajiv Shukla earlier hinted the inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in T20 league, but now he said that its up to franchises either they want to buy the Pakistani players or not.

Today, Later in the Day India will be taking on England in the 1st ODI of a 5 match series.  India who recently lost a whole tour to England in a humiliating manner will be looking forward to win their honor back.

Though India lost all of their matches (which includes 3 Tests, 2 T20s and 3 ODI matches) on the previously concluded tour of England still they came up as a strong force in the ODI series, where they almost broke their losing streak but unpredictable weather of UK did not let them do this, 2 ODIs of the 5 match series were washed away due to excessive rain. And in other 3 D/L System played their fair-bit part in England's victory.
